Abstract
As a matter of fact, it is known that there are alot of students who considered that writing descriptions is a difficult language skill. This is due to some factors such as the students feel bored during the teaching and learning process, lack of interest to write descriptions, lack of knowledge about writing descriptions, the students’ limitation in making imagination, lack of ability to express idea in order to make the paragraph alive, the un-maximum of vocabulary usage, and the incorrect usage of spelling and punctuation. Besides, students also do not able yet to develop their sense in writing a description. It causes the students’ ability in writing descriptions cannot develop so that the students cannot achieve the minimum standard of scoring from the teacher. Means obtained from the pre-cycle of Bahasa Indonesia was 65,55 with classical mastery was only 27% (5 students) out of 18 students. Based on these data, it is necessary to have an effort to apply an appropriate learning methods and interesting learning media on writing descriptions skills. This study aims to: (1) know the implementation of cooperative learning sentences concept model and pictorial stick media on the writing description skills for students of class V SDN Punten 02 Batu, and (2) know the improvement of learning outcomes from the application of cooperative learning sentences concept model and pictorial stick media on the writing description skills for students of class V SDN Punten 02 Batu This research uses Classroom Action Research type (PTK). As a source of data, the researcher selects class V SDN Punten 02 Batu, academic year 2017/2018 with 18 students. The study was conducted in January 2018 in two phases, namely the pre-action stage and the action stage. The pre-action stage is done by taking the students' score, while the action stage is done by the researcher in two cycles, each consisting of 1 meeting. In this research, the researcher uses concept sentences model with pictorial stick media to learn writing description skill. The result shows that (1) the implementation of concept sentences model and pictorial stick media on learning writing description skill in grade V SDN Punten 02 Batu, makes the students and teachers more active and enthusiast in the learning activities in the class so that the learning outcomes obtained becomes increasing. It is indicated by the result of observation data of the student activity include interest, confidence; cooperation and activeness reach 89.58%. While the observation teacher activity data reached 92,10%. (2) The result of the implementation of concept sentences model and pictorial sticks media on the writing description skills on the students class V SDN Punten 02 Batu, indicates that there is an increase in learning outcomes obtained by the students. It is indicated by the final score with an average of 90.27 and the classical mastery achieves 94.4% (17 students) who reach the completeness out of 18 students. From the result, it can be concluded that by applying concept sentences model and picture stick media can improve the students' learning outcomes, writing skill, teacher activity, and student activity on grade V SDN Punten 02 Batu.
