Abstract

LKS is a teaching material needed by students and teachers in Public Middle 8 and 10 Pasuruan City. Therefore, this research and development aims to 1) describe the needs of teaching materials for junior high school students of class IX, 2) produce instructional materials in the form of guided inquiry-based worksheets on the discussion material of junior high school students of class IX, 3) measure the effectiveness of discussion LKS text in developing ability to discuss class junior high school students. This research and development is a collaboration between Borg & Gall and Dick & Carey models. The method used is quasi-experimental with the sample of the research is the junior high school students of grade IX, 33 students as the experimental group and 30 students as the comparison group. The results of this study indicate that LKS can develop spiritual, social, knowledge and skills competencies in accordance with the current curriculum and other provisions. LKS products are validated by material / content experts and learning design experts, with an average score of 72.87%. The score entered in the validation criteria with a validation level is quite valid. The learning outcomes of the experimental group showed 90.42% for the class average, and 96.96% for the achievement of learning completeness. The results of the t-test obtained the value of t = -9.574 with the degree of freedom (dk) of 61. While the p-value (2-tailed) = 0.0000, because p-value = 0.0000 is smaller than α = 0.05 then H0: μ1 = μ2 is rejected, so it can be concluded that there is a significant difference between the posttest of the experimental group and the comparison group.
