Abstract

The result of observation and interview in SDN Temas 01 Batu on students elementary school in grade 4 has been using teaching material in the form of textbook given by the government, but the teaching material developed by others are often unsuitable for the students itself. Therefore, the self-developed teaching material can be adapted to target’ characteristics. The good teaching material is has accorded to learning material, arranged based on learning needs, the presence of evaluation materials also the teaching materials are interesting to learn by students. In making teaching materials for elementary students should be interesing because the characteristic of elementary school students are preferred to things that containts images in it. This study aims to develop the teaching materials based on picture storybooks (CERGAM) in order to facilitate the students and teachers in learning and delivering material on Theme 3, Subtema 3 (Let’s Love the Environment) for students at grade 4 SDN Temas 01 Baru. This pictorial story-based teaching material was developed using the ADDIE (Analyze, Design, Development, Implementation, Evaluation) model. In the analysis stage aims to obtain information that will be used as a basis for writer in conducting research. At design stage there are several activities that will be carried out are the preparation of research plans that include determining the development goals. Then, at the stage of development held in 2 stages of making teaching materials based on picture story books and validation stage by the expert. The implementation stage is the stage in order to implement or test the teaching material has arranged to subjects to be studied. The results of teaching materials’ experiments conducted by the researcher in grade 4 SDN Temas 01 Batu is obtained by the calculation of the percentage of validity level done through questionnaires that have been given to the students reached 87%. It shows that the teaching materials is interesting to use by students in learning process at class. In addition, the result of the calculation of the percentage of validity level done through questionnaires that have been given by the material expert reaches 87% and the teaching materials expert reaches 80.2%, it indicates that the teaching material is suitable for the learning process. The results of the average percentage of large group reached 88,4.
