Abstract

The showed that students’ understanding towards Javanese letters in SDN 3 Ngadirenggo of Trenggalek Regency are still quite low, it is necessary to develop a media which can help the students in learning process and improve the reading skill of Javanese letters. This research purposed at learning media development of Javanese letters scrabble which can help the students in learning Javanese language material. In addition, it investigated the effectiveness of learning media development of Javanese letters scrabble when the media was conducted in learning Javanese language, especially javanese letters material for fourth grade students of elementary school. Research and Development were included in this research by using model development, namely ADDIE (Analyze, Design, Development, Implementation, Evaluation). This model employed product approach by means of systematic and interactive steps. The steps consist of five steps, namely: (1) analyze, (2) design, (3) development, (4) implementation, (5) evaluation. Research results shows that learning media of Javanese letters scrabble earned a highly valid and eligible assessment in accordance with validation from the experts. The percentage was 92,3% from the result of validation by material experts with vey valid criteria and 92 % from media experts with vey valid criteria. The media effectiveness was observed from the result of students’ learning outcome in the implementation had an average of 87,5 and the students had ≥ 70 of score with the percentage of 83% students complete. Media interest also can be observed from the result of teacher assessment in fourth grade. It revealed that a media is a highly eligible to be applied for learning media of 92.5% with vey good criteria, and the percentage 92,9% with vey good criteria from the result of students’ response toward media in implementation. Scrabble learning media of Javanese letters is suggested to be developed for the digital version. Moreover, other media that can support the success of learning should be developed.
