Abstract

The purpose of this study is to know the appropriate land use / mapping area and knowing suitable plants to be planted in production forests based on land suitability levels. Forest education or forest area with a special purpose (KHDTK) is an area set by the government for research purposes and forestry development. The university of muhammadiyah malang is designated as a special purpose forest management (KHDTK) which is divided into 3 plot of plot 35, 43, and 44 RPH Kedung Rejo BKPH Pujon KPH Malang in which the area is included in the status of production forest area and protected forest, but based on the result of field surveys tahat have been done the condition of the forest area only on partial which grow / planted a stand so it needs to be done again forest area stewardship. Previously planted stands in the forest area is basically not all have land suitability which is suitable for as a place of growth and also every plant requires requirements for different growing in order to grow optimally. By because it is necessary to do further research and research to get information of vegetation types that match the characteristics of existing land in the field. The study was conducted in January 2018, housed in plot 43 RPH Kedung Rejo BKPH Pujon KPH Malang. Analysis of soil samples in the laboratory of the University land Brawijaya (UB) and Research Center for Beans dan Tubers. Tools: Stationary, camera, sampel ring, plastic bag, soil drill, cetok, meteran, clinometers and GPS. Material: soil samples, rainfall data in BMKG, slope data. Method of land suitability evalution tahat is by using method of maching or comparison, and method of stewardship area that is using scoring method. The result of this research is in plot of 43A or point C (protected forest status), sub plot of 43C or point A (TKL forest status), and sub plot 43B or point B, and (TJKL forest status) more suitable when used as a limited production forest. In plot 43A and 43C are not suitable for planting all recommended plant species. At point B, D, dan E are marginal to plant teak. Point B and D corresponds marginally, while point E is quite suitable for planting Mahagony, Paracerientes falcataria, Acasia mangium, and Eucaliptus. In plot 43A, 43B, and 43C not suitable for planting Pinus merkusii.
