Abstract

The hydraulic ram pump (Hydram) is a technology water pump that works by the gravity force to raise the water from the lower to the higher place using the energy of the water itself. Hydraulic ram is already widely in use and do specific research. One form of hydraulic ram technology development is carried out modifications designed to improve the efficiency. Used hydraulic ram pump is made in a single group. To determine the maximum discharge pump, made of different variations. The first variant is the head input of 2.8 m, 2.6 m and 2 m. then use the waste valve diameter of 70 mm, 80 mm and 90 mm. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of the maximum head and waste valve diameter on hydraulic ram to discharge hydraulic ram. From the test results it can be concluded that the discharge results are influenced by the initial altitude and waste valve diameter. The highest discharge is0.00017 m3 / s or 0.17 l /s head input of 2.8 m and waste valve diameter of 80 mm with efficiency of 59.30%.
