Abstract

In this case, slow learners’ responses to the learning process are still low. They tend to keep silent and unable to answer the question that is given by the teacher. Slow learners are taught with regular education students in an inclusion school. During the learning process sometimes those slow learners are found easy to forget the previous material and their concentration are easily disturbed. In order to improve slow learners’ response, the teacher has to be more creative in the teaching and learning process. According to the case above, the aim of this research is as follow: 1) To describe slow learners’ response toward 4th grade learning process at Tlekung 02 Elementary School Batu. 2) To describe slow learners’ social interaction toward their peers at Tlekung 02 Elementary School Batu. 3) To describe the obstacles that teacher face during the teaching and learning process. This study is conducted using a qualitative approach with descriptive research type. The data are collected through interview, observation, and documentation. Furthermore, the data are analyzed through collecting data, reducing, presenting data and drawing conclusions. The location of this study is conducted at Tlekung 02 Elementary School Batu on February 9th until February 14th. The subjects of this research are two slow learner students, four teachers, and a special counselor teacher. This finding of this study are pointing out that slow learners’ responses and concentration are still low and easily disturbed. To overcome those findings, the teachers are always giving them a stimulus and a different subject matter. Another salient finding is about their lack of social interaction. It is occur since slow learners tend to make themselves isolate from others. Furthermore, the obstacles those teacher faces are slow learner do not pay attention during the learning process.
