Abstract

The number of tourists in Semeru mountain always increases every year, but along with the increasing number of tourists in Semeru, facilities provided by the National Park does not meet the needs of tourists. Especially on lighting facilities for public toilets around the camp area of Ranukumbolo at night. It is necessary to improve facilities or mediums related to energy sources to meet the electricity needs of public lighting facilities in the camp area Ranukumbolo. However, the difficulty of access road becomes an obstacle for the National Park to deliver electricity to the camp area Ranukumbolo, therefore required a means or tool as an alternative energy in accordance with the natural conditions in the area of Bromo Tengger Semeru National Park. The design of a horizontal axis wind turbine with an Airfoil Arched plate begins by calculating a large turbine input power then proceeds to find the Dimension Rotor and find tip speed ratio) so that the number of blades (B) can be known. followed by finding the length of the blade chord and the geometry of the other blade. In addition to designing the blades is also included a simple design for shafts and bearings. After wind turbine designed TSR ( with 40 Watt power and average wind speed 5 m / s it can be concluded that wind turbine input power is 58.46 Watt with rotor sweep area that is 3.1 m^2, rotor diameter 1.9 m, rotor radius 0.95 m, Tip Speed Ratio 3 blade totals 6 blades and uses Airfoil Arched plate.
