Abstract

This research aims to examine the implementation of Cloze procedure in enhancing the student’s reading comprehension at junior high school. Cloze procedure is a teaching technique, which deletes the words in every n-th word (usually between every fifth, seventh, or tenth word) and it is the task for the students to fill in the blank. The design of this research was quasi-experimental research. The sample of this research was composed of 44 students. Experimental group consist of 22 students and control group consist of 22 students. The instrument used was test focusing on achievement test. The test is divided into two types; pre-test and post-test. The data was computed and measured by using SPSS computer program version 22. The finding revealed that the t-count was higher than the t-table (2,099 > 2,018) and the level of significance was lower than 5% level of significance (0,042 < 0,05). Based on the result, it has verified that alternative hypothesis (Ha) was accepted and null hypothesis (H0) was rejected. Evidently, the implementation of Cloze procedure technique had positively impacted in providing better result of student’s reading comprehension.
