Abstract

Mustard is a seasonal plant that is easy ot cultivate, mustard has many varieties but only a few that can grow well in Indonesia. Mustard greens and Pakcoy are different varieties, and both of the plants are in great demand by Indonesian people. According to Central Bureau of Statistics (2010), Java Island is the region with the most contribution on mustard production in Indonesia compared to other islands. From the total of mustard production in Indonesia, Java island contributed 55,86% from the total of production. MOL or Local Microorganism can replace the role of chemical fertilizers and other fertilizers on the market, the manufacture of MOL is simple and inexpensive. The raw materials that are needed is just organic household waste or banana hump. MOL is liquid organic fertilizer that undergo fermentation first before can be applied to plant. This study was used Factorial Randomized Block Design (RBD) with 2 factors, the first factor was mustard plant varieties that consist of Pakcoy (V1) and Mustard Greens (V2), whereas the second factor was MOL dosage (Local Microorganism) (D), consist of D1 = 7,5 ml/plant; D2 = 10 ml/plant; D3 = 12,5 ml/plant. The observation parameter from this study wereplant height, the number of leaves, dry weight, and fresh weight. The data were analyzed using F test to understand the variation, and then tested using Honest Significant Different (HSD) at 5% level. The results showed that the optimal dosage cannot be obtained neither for green mustards nor Pakcoy, because the collected data did not have significant effect on growth and yield from both mustard varieties. This could be due to the applied dosage is too small to have a different effect. Therefore, Pakcoy and mustard greens need higher dosage of MOL banana hump, so that both varieties of mustard could have significant effect on different dosage application.
