Abstract

Empirically onion plants Sabrang used local communities as a drug of various types of diseases and potential to be developed, so the production of this plant needs to be improved. Plant growth and production is influenced by fertilization and planting medium. The use of liquid organic fertilizer can improve soil fertility. The objective of this research is to get conductivity of liquid organic fertilizer (POC) with appropriate planting composition to optimize nutrient absorption and to know the influence of conductivity of liquid organic fertilizer (POC) and plant media composition on growth and yield of onion sabrang.This research activity was conducted on student farming creativity land of UMM located in Pendem Village, Karangploso, Malang Regency for 3 month 2 weeks and started in July 2017 until October 2017. This research use Orthogonal Group Random Design Method with 2 factors, first factor conductivity of liquid organic fertilizer 1 mS / cm, 2 mS / cm, 3 mS / cm, and 4 mS / cm. The second factor is the composition of planting medium consisting of 4 levels. The first level is top soil: compost (1: 1); second level, top soil: compost (2: 1); third level, top soil: compost: chaff charcoal (1: 1: 1); and fourth level, compost: chaff charcoal (1: 1).The results of this study indicate the interaction between conductivity treatment of liquid organic fertilizer and plant media composition on plant height and number of leaves. Conductivity treatment of liquid organic fertilizer 2mS / cm with compost plant media composition: chaff charcoal (1: 1) is the optimal treatment. Separately, the composition of planting media significantly affected the number of tubers, whereas the conductivity treatment of liquid organic fertilizer did not affect the post-harvest parameters and when the buds appeared.
