Abstract

Based on the result of need analysis performed on November 1st, 2017, the students’ kinesthetic intelligence who follow dance art as their extracurricular activity, still need to be developed because the students still have difficulty with the movement in their dance and feel shy to move freely which inhibit their kinesthetic intelligence. This study aims to: (1) Create the development of Dance arts Literacy for Kinesthetic Intelligence in Elementary School, and (2) Describe the validity of the development of Dance Art Literacy for Kinesthetic Intelligence in Elementary School. This research employs ADDIE development model which consists of five stages: Analyze, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation. This study was participated by 15 students from 4th and 5th grade of Elementary School who follow dance art as their extracurricular activity. It was conducted in February 2018. The results show that: (1) Dance Art Literacy is very valid to be used, with revisions according to the criticism and suggestion. It represents through the percentage result gained from the material expert which is 97%. While the percentage result from the learning practitioners is 95% and it is confirmed that the development of Dance Art Literacy for kinesthetic intelligence in Elementary School is very feasible to be used and does not need to be revised. (2) Development of Dance Art Literacy for kinesthetic intelligence in Elementary School has a very good response according to the result of students’ questionnaire which gains 92% percentage from the small group students and 90% from the large group students. Based on the results of this study, the Dance Art Literacy is suggested to be used as a dance creation to foster students’ kinesthetic intelligence in order to make it grows better. Dance Art Literacy can also foster students’ interest and talent in dancing as well as motivate them in dance extracurricular activities.
