Abstract

This study aimed to determine the effect of problem solving method on the set material in terms of students' logical thinking ability. The type of research used is quasy-experimental with quantitative approach. According to the type of research, then the class used two class which was control classes and experimental classes. This research is conducted based on the existing procedures, it is starting from the preparation phase, phase of research and report preparation phase. The instrument used observation sheet of teacher and student activity and test question. Based on the results of the test instrument analysis, the results show that there is a positive influence of learning by using problem solving method in terms of students' logical thinking ability. This is evidenced by the acquisition of significant coefficient value of 31.2% indicated by using regression test. Of course the value states that the method of problem solving has an effect on students' logical thinking ability of 31.2%, it is also expressed by the difference in average and level of logical thinking ability of students in control and experiment class. The effect of learning using problem solving method shows that students conform every indicator of logical thinking with positive influence.
