Competition that occurs in the banking world is becoming increasingly tight with many competitors, so burnout can not be avoided. Burnout is a symptom of emotional fatigue caused by the high demands of work experienced by individuals. One of the factors that can affect burnout is optimism. Every employee must have high hopes, goals and goals for his work, but when his expectations and ideals are not realized, the employee becomes pessimistic and begins to be dissatisfied with his burning work. The purpose of this study is to determine the effect of optimism on the emergence of burnout through hardiness in bank employees. Hypothesis in this research that optimism influence burnout through hardiness. The participants of this study were 82 employees. The results of mediation analysis using ordinary least square regression with SPSS hayes model 4 macros, indicating that optimism affects burnout in employees through intermediaries of hardiness. Employees with low optimism tend to have a low hardiness as well as causing employees to experience burnout.
