Abstract

Learning media is very important along with students' cognitive development. Primary school students are still in the phase of concrete operational thinking, where students need something to concretize what they consider abstract. So it is necessary to develop interesting and unique media. The developed media model is called TAKTIK (Stick Box). This study aims to (1) develop learning media Stick Box on thematic learning for third grade students, and (2) to produce a learning media product of Stick Box on thematic learning for third grade students which are valid, practical and interesting. This type of research is Research and Development (RnD), by using ADDIE model and consist of 5 stages namely Analyze, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation. The research was conducted at third grade at SDN Purwantoro 2 Malang with total of 31 students. The subjects of this research were third grade students at SDN Purwantoro 2, material experts, media experts and learning practitioners. Data collection techniques were done through interviews, observation on the analysis phase, while questionnaires and documentation at the stage of development and implementation. While the research instrument used to collect data were observation guidelines, interview guides, questionnaire validation and student response questionnaire. Data analysis techniques used qualitative and quantitative data analysis. The results after using the development procedure proposed by ADDIE are 1) producing modified Stick Box media by using bamboo sticks coated with batik motif images used to calculate the result of multiplication. 2) the level of validity is categorized very well, ie material experts 82.5%, media experts 92.85% and learning practitioners 87.5%. Then the level of practicality is 87.5%. It can be concluded from the validation results that the media is suitable in terms of curriculum learning and material content. The level of attractiveness of small group trial is 95.83% and field trial is 94.59%. So the media is categorized very interesting to be used as learning media at third grade elementary school. And the level of practicality obtained from the validation value of learning practitioners with 87.5% percentage.
