Abstract

Understanding of English vocabulary in grade 3 at SDN Tlogomas 1 Malang is still quite low so, it requires an effort of improvement through the application of varied learning methods. Understanding of English vocabulary is still quite low it evidenced by student learning outcomes are still below the KKM is 70.00. This research aims to find out the process of applying learning method of outdoor study in learning English vocabulary in grade 3 at SDN Tlogomas 1 Malang and improvement an understanding of English vocabulary in grade 3 by using outdoor study at SDN Tlogomas 1 Malang. This research uses qualitative research, and the type of research is classroom action research. The data sources are twenty students and an English teacher in grade 3 at SDN Tlogomas 1 Malang academic year 2017/2018. Data obtained in the form of the value of student learning outcomes and student activities during the learning activities. Data collection techniques used is observation, interview, test, and documentation. Research conducted in February to March 2018, consisting of 2 cycles, each cycle there is one meeting. Each research cycle there are four stages of preparation, implementation, observation, and reflection. Data analysis techniques used are qualitative and quantitative. The results showed the implementation learning method of outdoor study in English vocabulary learning grade 3 at SDN Tlogomas 1 Malang made the students active because the activities performed is fun. This outdoor study is a fun activity because the result of student activity is 95% active and very active category. The implementation learning method of outdoor study improves the understanding of English vocabulary grade 3 at SDN Tlogomas 1 Malang. Improved student understanding it can be shown from the student learning outcomes that achieve mastery of 100%.
