Abstract

Mustard plant is a group of plants from Brassica family which its leaves and flowers are used as food (vegetable), either freshly or processed. This is enough to increase people’s need for mustard plant. One of the important factors in successful cultivation is fertilization. A common problem in fertilization is the low efficiency of nutrient uptake by plants. Therefore, plants need to be given additional nutrients from the external sources such as organic fertilizers either solid or liquid. The use of liquid organic fertilizer by utilizing the type of local microorganism (MOL) become an alternative to support the nutrient needs in the soil. This study used Randomized Block Design with 2 factors, the first factor was mustard plant varieties (V): Pakcoy mustard (V1), and mustard greens (V2). The second factor was the compositions of MOL (local microorganism): MOL of banana hump (T1), MOL of vegetable waste (T2), and MOL of fruits waste (T3). All treatments were repeated 4 times. The observation variables for this study were microorganism population, plant height, number of leaves, leaf area, fresh weight, dry weight, and number of chlorophyl. The data were analyzed using F test at alpha level of 1% and 5% to understand the effect of treatments and then using HSD test at 5%. There was not interaction between compositions of local microorganism (MOL) and mustard varieties at all observation parameter, that were plant height, number of leaves, leaf area, number of chlorophyl, fresh weight, and dry weight. Separately, MOL of banana hump had significance different to plant weight (26,350 cm), leaf area (98,241 cm2), and fresh weight (37,417 gram). MOL of fruits waste had significance effect to number of leaves (9,333), number of chlorophyl (36,501), and dry weight (2,906 gram).
