Abstract

Indonesia has a considerable wealth of rice germplasm in the form of local varieties and wild species. Indonesia has a large genetic diversity of rice, because the island of the Archipelago was once merged with the Asia continent which is the center of the origin of rice crops. Local rice has been cultivated for generations so that the genotype has adapted well to specific land conditions and climates in its development area. (Abdullah, 2006). Collecting local rice has started since the 20th century. In 2010 a total of 2.797 accessions of rice germplasm has been collected by Balai Besar Penelitian Tanaman Padi (BB Padi 2010). Germplasm consists of 1.635 accessions of local varieties, 978 introduced varieties, and 184 new varieties.The purpose of this research is to know the response of doses of compost fertilizer to growth and yield of local rice plant. Research was conducted in experimental garden of Agriculture Faculty - Animal Husbandry University of Muhammadiyah Malang the village Tegalgondo, Karangploso Sub-district, Malang District. Altitude of 550 m above sea level, with a daily average temperatur between 25oC – 32oC. Research conducted in July 2015 – February 2016. The research used Factorial Randomized Block Design (RBD) with 2 factors, first factor (compost doses) and second factor (local rice). The parameters of vegetative phase observation were plant height, number of leaves, and number of tillers. Parameter of generative phase observation that is the number of productive tillers, panicle length, number of grain of contents, hulah grain hollow, fresh weight of plant, dry weight of plant. Based on the result of research showed that the interaction on the treatment of rice type and the dosage of compost fertilizer had significant effect on plant height, number of leaves, number of tillers, productive seedlings, number of grain contents, number of hollow grain and grain weight. The dosage of compost fertilizer gave different effect on the three types of local rice, Lanberjugan rice type with dosage 15 tons/ha, Beliorang rice type with dosage 15 tons/ha, and Pilangnyarwan type with dosage 5 tons/ha is relatively better treatment in each type. The fertilization doses of 15 tons/ha tends to be better against the number of leaves, the number of tillers and the harvest that tends to be higher than the doses of 0 tons/ha, 5 tons/ha and 10 tons/ha. The local rice Lanberjungan tends to be better against the the number of leaves, the number of tillers and the harvest, althought the plant height is lower than that of type local rice Pilangnyarwan.
