Abstract

Students' understanding of Javanese script was very lacking. This was due to the lack of teaching media and learning methods used to assist the learning process of students. So it was necessary to develop Javanese script as teaching media and learning methods that can improve the ability to read Javanese script. This study aimed to develop the teaching media Kotak Aksara Jawa (KORAWA) through the Snowball game so as to improve the ability of students in Javanese script material for third-grade students and to find out the response from Korawa media through Snowball game with Javanese script material in third-grade students in elementary school. This type of research was research and development. The method that used was descriptive. The development model used was the ADDIE model. The ADDIE model had the following steps: (1) analysis, (2) design, (3) development, (4) implementation, (5) evaluation. While the data analysis techniques using qualitative descriptive and quantitative of the questionnaire. The results of this study indicated that the medium of learning Kotak Aksara Jawa (Korawa) through the game Snowball got a very feasible feasibility percentage based on the validation of the experts. Validation by the teaching media expert obtained a percentage of 83.33% and by the material, expert obtained a percentage of 82.5%. Media attractiveness was seen from the implementation in third-grade at SDN 01 Donowarih and SDN Tlogomas 1 Malang, the percentage of students' responses at SDN 01 Donowarih Karangploso was 96.6%. The percentage of student responses at SDN Tlogomas 1 Malang was 92.1%. While the student response at the time of implementation was very high student enthusiasm both female and male students. Students confidently answer questions from the teacher and confidently advance even though the answers were still wrong.
