Abstract

An open wound can cause an infection, so that is important to prevent the infection by giving an antiseptic, that is povidone iodine. However, the antiseptic gives effects, such as irritations and allergies; thus, it needs a wound medicine without causing any effects. One of the alternatives is using a herbal material; mango leaves (Mangifera indica L) with Manalagi variety. Since it contains active substances such as flavonoids, tannins, saponins The purpose of this research is to know the influences of giving various concentration of mango leaf (Mangifera indica L.) extract to heal the wound in white rats and to know the most effective concentration of mango leaf (Mangifera indica L.) extract on wound healing of white rats. This research was done in Chemist Laboratory Universitas Muhammadiyah Malang. The type of research was true experimental. This research used 6 groups the positive control group with povidone iodine, negative control, and treatment groups with mango leaves (Mangifera indica l.) extract with a concentration of 5%, 10%, 15%, and 20%. This research used a complete randomized design (RAL) with 4 repetitions. The sample of this research were 24 white rats aged 2 months with weight 150-200 grams, chosen as simple random sampling. The result of One Way Anova showed that there was a difference of various concentrations of mango leaf extract (mangifera indica L.) given on wound healing of white rats (Rattus norvegicus). The result of the average time healing cut on white mice showed that 20% was 7 days 1 hour, concentration of 15% was 9 days 3 hours, concentration of 10% was 10 days 1 hour, concentration 5% was 11 days 2 hours. The positive control was 10 days and negative control was12 days 2 hours. The result of Duncan’s showed that a good concentration on wound healing, the loss of erythema, swelling, granulation and wound closed during the research was the concentration of 20%. The results of this research will be used as a source of biological learning in the form of handout material "Various Levels of Indonesian Biodiversity" for the tenth grade students.
