Abstract

Affinity is the joining force of coexisting species. Affinity includes two aspects of overlapping and associations of niches. The classification of the community is a form of community grouping based on the level of similarity. Household waste disposal and Pesticides from paddy fields and activities in rivers have an effect on the ecological and life conditions of gastropods. Lack of studies and research on affinity and classification of communities leads to a lack of information about affinity and classification of communities. The type of research is used descriptive quantitative research. This research was conducted on January 18, 2017 with transect method. The aim of this research is to know the affinity between species that is more specific in the association between species and classification of gastropod community in Brantas river. The results showed that the gastropods found consisted of Sulcospira testudinaria, Lymnaea rubiginosa, Tarebia granifera, Melanoides tuberculata, Thiara scabra, Melanoides granifera, Melanoides Torulosa and Melanoides rustica. The associations that occur between all pairs of species exhibit positive associations and are included in associations ranging from lowest to highest, and only 1 pair of species belonging to the association is highest with the association index of 0.50 whereas most species pairs are included in the lowest association, there are 18 specises with index <0.22. Grouping based on stations formed 2 groups, namely the first group consisting of station 1 with station 3 and the second group consists of stations 1, 2 and 3. This grouping shows that between research stations still have attachments between one another. The results of this study used as a source of biology learning in the form of a pocket book.
