The study is choosen because the achievement of mathematic doesn’t’ increase yet, especially in algebra estimation subject. Based on the result of interview to the mathematic teacher in SMP Muhammadiyah 1 Malang, thelow of the result of the study in “Operasi Hitung Bentuk Aljabar” subject is caused by the student didn’t enough to hook on the material that has been though with their daily life. The other obstacle faced by the student is much of the student difficult to differentiates between same variable and different variable and meaning of coefficient, so that unable to finish the algebra operation as well. That’s why it needs the teaching method creativity. One of the developments mathematic teaching method that more deceive the student and motivate the student creativity is contextual teaching and learning. According to Erman Suherman, to do mathematic teaching learning with using contextual teaching and learning. There are some teaching that can implementate, one of the techniques is Dires Instruction. That’s why this study is clastering both of direct instruction and contextual teaching and learning.. The purpose of this study are to know the students activity during teaching learning process, the students finishing learning and the students respond in algebra estimation subject by using direct instruction technique and contextual teaching and learning. The subject of this study were the students in VIII grade at SMP Muhammadiyah 1 Malang. This study used descriptive qualitative design. The instruments to collect the data were observation, test and quetionare. The result of the study showed that math teaching learning with using direct instruction technique and contectual teaching and learning in estimation algebra subject was the student activity during teaching learning process was good with the percentage 75,69%, from 37 students who follow the test, 5 of them didn’t finish the learning where as 32 students was finish the learning,it means that the teaching learning which done have reach the classical achievement or fit with thw critwria that regulated is that same or more than 65. Where as the students respond was very good toward the implementation of direct instruction technique with contextual teacing and learning. It showed by agree respond that 77,7 % and fit with the criteria.
