Abstract
YLK Malang is the institution that protects consumer rights including hah-help and advocacy for consumers who suffer due to the circulation of expired food in accordance with Law No. 8 Year 1999 on Consumer Protection. Expired foods in addition to be materially detrimental to the human spirit can also be harmful if consumed. This research takes the formulation of the problem: 1. How YLK role in protecting consumers against Malang circulation of expired food? 2. Obstacles faced if YLK Malang in helping solve the problems of disadvantaged consumers due to the circulation of expired food? This study uses sociological juridical approach, data collection techniques such as interviews and document study originated from Malang YLK as a place of extraction of primary and secondary data. Then the survey data were analyzed by descriptive analysis. Based on the research and discussion, we can conclude: that the role of YLK Malang in performing its role and resolve consumer disputes many experienced barriers or obstacles, especially lack pahamnya care consumers and consumer protection laws and business operators do not provide information to consumers in truth. As a guideline which the Government issued Law no. 8 Year 1999 on Consumer Protection to set the protection for consumers, including losses due to circulation of expired food. In this Act governs the rights and obligations of consumer and businesses. Advice, the need for improved oversight of businesses that distribute the food, either by the Consumer Agency, the Government and the consumer society in particular.
