The Number of Male participation to use contraception tools in Indonesia is too low. Based on the Total of Acceptor of KB in Indonesia, about 97% are women. While participation of Male are just 2.1%. government try to increase equivalent in order to population of Indonesia may be stressed. The problem of contraception tools that have hormonal characteristic have side effect thus half societies rejected to follow KB program, especially men to take KB program, because they have many reason to unused contraception tools. One of alternative is by using traditional contraception without side effect. Salam (Syzygium polyanthum) constituted one of plant which have chemistry contain that have advantage to contraception, such as tannin, flavonoid, volatile oil and steroid. Such as tannin is known to be able to freeze semen. Tannin, to contraception is very advance because can prevent pregnancies, it does not loss because it is not spermatogenesis process, but it is in sperm transportation process, thus it is very appropriate to KB program. The goal of this study is to know Influence of Extract of Salam Leaf (Syzygium polyanthum) to Spermatozoa Motility of Male Wistar Rat (Rattus norvegicus). This study use true experimental research because they have three prerequisite about replication, random and control by using Complete Random Plan (RAL) which consist of 6 treatments and 4 repeat. They are Do without treatment, D1, D2, D3, D4, and D5 by giving of salam leaf extract, respectively 1 gr, 2 r, 3 gr, 4 gr, dan 5 gr/day which given orally by syringe or sonde. The populations of this study is male rat-white with 3 months with 200 gr weight. While the samples which be used 24 tails of male rat-white, they are taken simple random sampling. The study result show that there are influence of giving of Extract of Salam Leaf to Spermatozoa Motility of Male Rat-Write. It is shown on variance analysis one tail whit F-test value > F table in significance degree of 1%. While based on the BNT test show that giving of extract of salam leaf with 4 gr/day doses more effective to decrease spermatozoa motility of male rat-white. And it is not significance with 5 gr/day doses.
