Novel is a prose work of some length and complexity which attempts to express author's creative thinking through writing. From novel, we can get new experience, enrich our knowledge, and compare the issues with reality in our life. One of the issues that we know is propaganda. Thus, it is an important instrument of how language can be manipulated and persuade people's mind. In this study, George Orwell's Animal Farm novel was taken as an object of the study because it is one of the most influential political allegory stories based on the Communist Revolution of Russia in which propaganda become the main issues in this novel. Therefore, there are three research objectives of this research namely: (1) to describe the propaganda conducted by Napoleon as a leader in Animal Farm, (2) to identify the techniques of the propaganda used by Napoleon in the Animal Farm novel, and (3) to investigate the effect of the propaganda conducted by Napoleon as a Leader in the Animal Farm novel. This research uses descriptive qualitative research design since the objective are identifying and describing the information of propaganda issues conducted by Napoleon as a Leader in Animal Farm novel. In analyzing the novel, the researcher uses objective approach. It is because the researcher focuses on the literary itself, in which researcher only investigates the propaganda issues conducted by Napoleon. After analyzing the novel, the result shows that Napoleon uses propaganda to take over the leadership and authority of getting milk and apples. The propaganda techniques that is used by Napoleon in this novel are: (1) Name-calling, (2) Glittering generalities, and (3) Card-stacking. Meanwhile, the researcher concludes that propaganda led by Napoleon indicates the bad usage of propaganda in his leadership. He makes the animals more suffocated than before it happen by letting them hungry. He also does not give proper education to the other animals. Thus, Napoleon only thinks what is best for him and does not think about the other members of society.
