Keywords : Slapstick, Comedy, Television Television is a complete mass media since is contained three important components that is sound (audio), picture (visual) and script. Various television shows has spoiled the society, started from news program, entertainment, culture, and others. Entertaining show program consists of quiz, drama-serial, variety show, infotainment, talk show, comedy/humor, and others are preferred by the society and particularly by children and mothers. One of the entertaining shows favored by the audience is comedy. One kind of comedy is slapstick. Slapstick is rough action such as hitting, tossing, and other made purposefully so the audience laugh on it. Comedy program “Opera Van Java” which is shown by TRANS 7 is one show contain slapstick and on-aired in prime time hours. This experiment is aimed to found out how massive is slapstick scene and what kind of slapstick often emerge in comedy program Opera Van Java at TRANS 7. According to superiority theory formulated by Thomas Hobbes that someone should laugh because seeing weakness of someone which is made other seems more advance (superior). Characteristic of slapstick comedy is rough joke, messy situation, high-spirited player/actor, and sometimes there are violence act and strong-weak character of player. Steve Tomkins has said that “If sarcasm is the lowest form of wit, then slapstick is the lowest form of comedy, all custard pies and banana skins, people hitting each other and falling over”. This can be interpreted that slapstick is the lowest “class” of all comedy. Method used in this experiment is content analysis method. Scope of the experiment is Opera Van Java program, on-air at Trans 7 during May 2009. In this experiment, researcher use syntactic analysis that is physical violent act. While measure used is appearance frequency category calculated by second. Category structure in this experiment is: indication of hurting consists of hitting, slapping, tossing, pushing, dropping, dragging over, while indication of domination consists of crashing and slamming. From the experimental result, it shows that in Opera Van Java program, hitting category as indication of hurting is most frequent category done by Opera Van Java players. Hitting category emerge in 270 second (47,1%). Followed by tossing category reaching 104 second (18,1%). Subsequently, followed by pushing category with total of 74 second (12,9%) and last is dropping in 69 second (12%). Meanwhile, for domination category, most frequent category is crashing in 16 second (69,5%) and for slamming category as much as 7 second (30,5%). This is like conclude above due to many properties supporting violent act is influencing slapstick action done by Opera Van Java players.
