Contemporary psychology is currently growing very fast. A number of conceptual and theoretical formulations on human is created. This has led to a prediction that concept of human will be the leading topic in psychological studies. Human is an interesting and debatable topic of discussion, and therefore there is a specific field of psychology called the psychology of personality. The formulation of personality theories is part of human’s endeavors to reveal mysteries exist within themselves. In term of Islamic psychology, it should be admitted that fast - growing western theories of psychology has made Muslim sychologists unaware. Western thought is extensively adopted without any rigorous analysis. Referring to the discourse of Islamization of science introduced by Ismail Raji’ al-Faruqi, this research is aimed at conducting a Comparison of Freud’s and Ghazali’s concept of human personality. The selection of these psychologists is based on the fact that they are central figure in contemporary psychology as well as Islamic psychology. This research is qualitative using a library research approach. According to its level, this research can be categorized as inferential research by describing the situation that will be deeply analyzed. In addition to explanation, this research is also a comparison of Freud’s and Ghazali’s concept on human personality. This research concluded that there are similarities as well as differences between Freud’s and Ghazali’s concept of personality. The obvious similarities can be revealed on physical aspects of human being, while striking differences can be clearly seen from spiritual aspect which never been dealt with by Freud. These differences have impacted on the concept of personality patterns offered by both psychologists.
