Abstract

This study discusses the language skill based on KTSP in SMPN 16 Malang. The background of this study is the replacement of the existence curriculum in Indonesia nowadays. The curriculum is curriculum 1968, curriculum 1975, curriculum 1984, curriculum 1994, curriculum based-competence, and curriculum 2006 or so-called as Phased-united education curriculum (KTSP). KTSP is aimed to create competence and intelligent graduate in developing culture and nation identity. Phased-united education curriculum can give knowledge, skill foundations; learning skill that develops social integrity and culture also expressing national characteristics. Beside, it is also making teachers easy in presenting long-life learning experience that refers to four pillar of universal education. Phased-united education curriculum is one of government efforts in responding social superiority in mastering knowledge and technology. The purposes of this study are to describe (1) the arrangement of learning plan in language skill, (2) the implementation of language skill, and (3) the implementation of extracurricular activities based on the phased-united education curriculum in SMPN 16 Malang. Method that is used in this study is descriptive qualitative. Descriptive method is intended to get any information about the indications of conducted study. The data is (1) about the arrangement of learning implementation based on the phased-united education curriculum, (2) data about learning implementation based on the phased-united education curriculum, and (3) data about the implementation of extracurricular activities based on the phased-united education curriculum. Data source that is obtained in this study is (1) the preparation of arranging Learning Plan based on KTSP, (2) the implementation of learning activities based on KTSP, and (3) the implementation of extracurricular activities based on KTSP. It can be concluded that in SMPN 16 Malang has implemented Phased-united education curriculum (Kurikulum Tingkat Satuan Pendidikan). The implementation of KTSP in SMPN 16 is in the process of teaching learning process, teachers use contextual approach. It is used in the implementation, listening skill. It uses contextual, modeling. In speaking skill, teacher uses contextual by giving assignment and demonstration. In reading skill, it uses contextual by discussion and modeling (characterization). Writing skill uses contextual by modeling method, asking, and demonstration. The method is hoped in order to school get high competence graduate. The result of this study is expected can give advantage to Indonesia teachers in SMP negeri 16 Malang as the examination in making detailed lesson plan in order to teaching learning process proceed smoothly. For the other researchers that interest in education can study this result by library study and discuss other topic with different point of views.
