Abstract
For English language learners, writing is one of the important skills in learning language. To obtain the maximum result in writing, students need to develop their reading habit. A good reading habit makes the students capable of creating a good writing product. In the other words, by increasing reading activities, it helps students develop their writing skill and makes them more creative. This study was conducted to correlate students' reading habit and development of students' writing skill at University of Muhammadiyah Malang. The sample was students' of fifth semester from English Language Education Department. In this case, data was analyzed by using quantitative approach. Shortly, the results of correlation between both of the variables are considered to have a very high correlation. It was proved by SPSS program version 21 with Person Product Moment Formula. The research finding result showed that rxy is higher than rtable. It means that the analysis result confirmed that the students' reading habit had a significant correlation on their writing product. Furthermore, it revealed that alternative hypothesis (Ha) was accepted and null hypothesis (Ho) was rejected. Thus, it might be concluded that in this present study, reading habit had a correlation between development of students' writing skill.
