Language was the most effective tool of communication. Language can be divided into two forms. They were oral or spoken and written language. In bilingual and multilingual society, there were two kinds of code, they were code switching and code mixing, and both of them were used by the people to express their thoughts, ideas, and knowledge. Code mixing was mixed two codes or languages without change of topic in the same sentence or discourse. “Empat Mata” Program was one of the famous programs broadcasted by Trans 7 TV. The audience were not only from Indonesia but also from other countries. Tukul Arwana as the presenter often mixed his language, Indonesian and English to guide this program. Generally, the guest stars were coming from celebrity communities. This study was aimed at getting answer of the research problems, namely (1) what are the code mixing used by the presenter and the artists in “Empat Mata” Program? (2) what are kinds of code mixing used by the presenter and the artists in “Empat Mata” program? and (3) what are the factors influencing of code mixing used by the presenter and artists based on Hymes’s theory? The design of this research was descriptive method. The instrument used in this research was direct observation. To collect the data, the way to do observation was through recording by using tape recorder in order to get the valid data. The data source was the original conversation from the presenter and artists of “Empat Mata” Program. The data were in the forms of quotations of Tukul Arwana’s speeches. Having conducted the analysis on the basis of the given procedure, it was found that there were two kinds of code-mixing, the situational code mixing and conversational code mixing. Some factors influencing the use of code mixing based on Hymes theory were the setting and scene, the participants, ends, and instrument. There were 57 code mixings found in this study included the situational code mixing and conversational code mixing used by the presenter and the guest stars in “Empat Mata” program on Trans 7 TV. The findings were 9 situational code mixing and 48 conversational code mixing.
