Abstract

Graphic organizers teaching instruction is a variable that facilitate the teaching writing to be more excited and enthusiast. Additionally, graphic organizers are a visual templating idea, which isolate and highlight the desired information (Parker, 2007, p. 4). This study aims to investigate the contribution of graphic organizers teaching instruction in elevating the writing performance for the VIII grades students at Islamic State Junior High School (MTsN) Pandaan – Pasuruan. Thereby, this study is intended to verify the intervention of graphic organizers for writing performance elevation, particularly in initiation of generating and establishing idea. The design of this research was quasi experimental research. It is integrated since the group has been naturally together in a class, which means the subjects of study are not possible to be assigned randomly. The sample of this study was composed of 58 students in 2016/2017 academic year. The instrument used was a test. Two major tests, pre-test and post-test, had been administered before and after the treatment being given. Further, the data was computed and measured by using SPSS computer program version 22. The findings revealed that the level of significance of the test was lower than the 5% level of significance (.00<.05) and the t value of computation was well above the t table (9.89>2.05). Based on that result, it has confirmed that the null hypothesis (H0) was rejected and the alternative hypothesis (Ha) was accepted. Articulately, it evidenced that the graphic organizers teaching instruction had positively impacted in achieving the learning objectives, especially for writing elevation. In advance, the findings are probable to be cited in providing alternative teaching writing for foreign language learners of English.
