Abstract

The selection model of study really determines the quality of studying process in the class. Based on the observation done by observator and teachers of SMP islam 2 pujon, the informations got by the observator is that the process of study in the class of VIII-3 can still be categorized in conventional form which teacher is the central of study (teacher oriented). in giving the material, teacher explains it at glance and gives the questions without any guidance when the students get difficulties in answering the question. Besides those, the results of study and student’s ability of thinking are still less. This matter however can be a problem, it because the process of studying and the environment make the abilities of students stagnant, even decrease. The solution how to solve that problem is by applying the cooperative model of study consciously and systematicly to develop the interaction that teach, love, and care for among the students as training. One of the cooperative model is STAD (Student Teams Achievement Divisions). Then in studying the type of STAD, it has five main components, such ; (1) class attendance; (2) team; (3) Quiz; (4) score of individual development; (5) team recognition. This observation is designed to increase the results of study and student’s ability of critical thinking through cooperative model of studying of STAD in the material of straight line’s similiarity in VIII-3 class of SMP Islam 2 Pujon. The kinds of observation is classroom action research (PTK) that is designed to solve the problems in the class and repair the process of study. The results of this observation shows that the model of cooperative study of STAD in the material of straight line’s similiarity is able to increase the results of study and student’s ability of critical thinking the student of VIII-3 class of SMP Islam 2 Pujon, this matter can be seen from the final cycle test. In the first cycle, the average score is 55,1 % with persentage of completness 32,1%, in the second cycle the average score is 75,1% with the persentage of completness 85,7%. On the other hand based on analysis, there is a questionnaire of student’s ability of critical thinking that includes three indicators such ; the ability of giving opinion,oppose, and the intention of the truth.they show the persentage 60,9% in the first cycle and 80,4% in the second cycle. Based on the result of both cycles, there is a raising from the first cycle to the second cycle and It gives the target decided by SMP Islam 2 Pujon. This matter shows that the model of cooperative study of STAD in the material of straight line’s equality is able to increase the results of study and student’s ability of critical thinking.
