Abstract

Keyword : Picture series, Speaking. This study, focuses on the implementation of picture series on teaching speaking of eighth grade students of SMP Aisyiyah Muhammadiyah 3 Malang. Therefore, it had two purposes, they are: (1) to describe the implementation of picture series teaching techniques for speaking class at eighth grade student of SMP Aisyiyah Muhammadiyah 3 Malang; and (2) to describe the application of picture series influence studentsÂ’ development on speaking. The method used in this study is qualitative because intended to understand the phenomena of the effect of using picture series in eighth grade student in SMP Aisyiyah Muhammadiyah 3 Malang. The subject of this study was the English teacher who teaches bilingual class and students bilingual classes. They are the first grade, the second grade, and the third grade. Specially, this research focuses on students and teachers at eight grade student. The findings show that the result of the researcher, using picture series is more effective than using text for teaching speaking to eight grade students of junior high school. The second, picture series increase the motivation and confident of the students to speak English. The third, there is a connection between teaching techniques and fun learning. Besides, the picture series techniques are able to make students feel more fun, creative, and confident. The last, picture series increase the grade and success of the students in speaking English. Based on the findings above, it can be concluded that picture series are the effective technique to improve speaking skill of junior high school students, especially for the eighth grade student of SMP Aisyiyah Muhammadiyah 3 Malang.
