Abstract

Students' perception toward peer learning technique can influence the success of teaching and learning process. The teacher should be more creative in choosing the suitable technique to achieve the goals of language learning activity. Perception of the students divide into positive perception and negative perception. In this research, the researcher used descriptive qualitative as research design to get information about students' perception on the influence of peer learning technique. The research participants were sixteen students of science-stream eleventh graders of SMA Muhammadiyah 3 Batu. The instruments to collect data are questionnaire and observation, the questionnaire divide into two sections, questionnaire before and questionnaire after the implementation of peer learning technique in writing class. The result of this research showed the students gave positive perception on the implementation of peer learning technique in writing class. The implementation of peer learning technique made students more active in discussing the materials, made them easy to share their opinion, made them have high competitiveness with the other members of group or with other groups, the students' relationship become closer and peer learning technique made them enjoy the teaching and learning process.
