Abstract

Keyword : Bilingual, Implement Bilingual Program Bilingual is the ability to speak two languages. In bilingual class, both teacher and students are expected to use two languages to communicate during the classroom activities and also for the medium of instruction. In this study, the researcher is interested in observing the implementation of bilingual program at MA Bilingual Batu. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to describe the implementation of bilingual program at MA Bilingual Batu. This study used desriptive qualitative as research design.The subject is the English teacher who taught English subject for XI (eleventh) grade majoring in IPA (natural science). The instruments were used were observation and semi-structured interview Based on the data analysis, the English teacher at MA Bilingual Batu implemented bilingual program through all mediums of intructions in two activities. They are teaching learning in the class and outside the class. In teaching learning process in the class, teacher used immersion type of bilingual program, because all mediums of intructions is English and used some strategies (translating, translanguaging, and previewing-and-reviewing) in implementating bilingual program. Bilingual program which was implemented outside the classconsists of some activities. They are English hour, English program, and LT (Language Training).However, the teacher has some problems in implementing bilingual program. The students have a lack of motivation to study English.The another problem is including the lack of teaching facilities. The teacher solved those problems by giving attractive and enthusiastic teaching technique to enhance studentsÂ’ abilities and once a month teacher invited at leats a foreigner to come to the school and teacher get guideliness from MGMP about the media used in delivering English.
