Abstract

Language is a tool and medium for the importance or significance or symbolic meaning produced to explore a cultural studies. The language referred to in cultural studies is 'everyday language' is not a logical language. Language is not a metaphysical presence, but a tool used in humans to coordinate their actions in social relationships. In the rubric Ebes ngalam in Malang Daily Morning Post, is a rubric that is packaged in a conversation using the language Walikan / Malangan language, which contains a message of social critics who insinuated with distinctive languages. Rubrics are packed in the conversation this malangan language with the language style prank, naughty, and relaxed, aim to be easily understood by the reading public. In this language, there are some words that try to convey a social criticism addressed to certain parties. Such language is of course required by the community, where language is not just a means of communication and delivery of messages, but the capability to act as a tool of criticism. Through the 'language malangan' It attracts researchers to examine the social criticism that appears every sentence in the column and try to lead on the importance of social criticism in the community. From the fact above, researchers are interested in to reveal any further into the form of research with the title "Language as a Tool of Social Critic Malangan diSurat Local News." Where the purpose of this study is to identify themes and targets of social criticism dirubrik Ebes ngalam. The method used in this study is the method of content analysis. The scope of this study is the rubrics Ebes ngalam edition of June 10 to July 4, 2009 in Malang Daily Morning Post. In this research unit is the unit of analysis used an item analysis of the sentence within the rubric of Ebes ngalam. Item sentence that is chosen to be the rubric Ebes ngalam edition June 10 to July 4, 2009, for further analysis. While the unit of measurement with respect to frequency of occurrence of category structure on the unit of analysis. Category structure in this study were divided into two, namely, the first category is based on "Target", which comprises, Government Institutions, Society, Sports Athlete, and the Agency or Company, and the second category is based on "Themes" which includes, Social, Education, Sports, and Economics. From the results of research conducted on the Rubric Ebes ngalam, the category of "Target" is the Government Agency category most often appears as a target of criticism. Government Institutions targets appeared 11 times (50%). Then followed by the target agencies / companies that amount to seven times (32%). Further goals followed by as many as three times Olympic Sports (13%) and after that the target community as much as one times (5%). While for the category based on "Theme" of criticism, the most frequent theme that emerged was theEducation and Sports which are equally as many as nine times appeared (41%) subsequently followed by social themes as much as three times emergence (13%) and the Economic theme of a time ( 5%). This is as it has been concluded above that with the many criticisms directed at government agencies and institutions or companies, are expected with the existence of such rubrics ngalam Ebes This can improve performance. In addition, for the media workers are expected to control the running of the government.
