Abstract

Learning of mathematics at this time still inclined use lecture method, assignment, and questions for answer. Where is teacher to be the centre of learning process, while student be listener and passive onlooker. This situation can reduce the student comprehension and automaticly influence in the result of study because of students do not active. One of the strategy in Learning that invite student for active build their self knowled in their mind self with fun activity so that student doesn't felt bored is active learning with quiz team method. This research aims to know teacher and student activities during active learning with quiz team method goes on process, knowing result of study mathematics after use active learning with quiz team method , and to describe student response towards active learning strategy with quiz team method. This research uses to qualitative approach with descriptive method. Data taken from the result of teacher and student activities observation, student test result, and inquiry result that hold student response. While data source in this research are student at 7th grader and teacher that teach mathematics at SMP Muhammadiyah 8 Batu, the research subject are student class VIIC that have 32 students. From the research above, show that average teacher activity after two meetings get "good" category. While student activity from meeting one and two belong "effective" category. The test result shows that from 32 students that follow test, fulfil KKM as much as 23 students with prosentase 71,88% and doesn't fulfil as much as 9 students with prosentase 28,12. Therefore, result of mathematics test in active learning with quiz team method is declared complete. While average response towards active learning with quiz team method get positive response from 87,96% student. Active learning with quiz team method can be use as alternative way to applied in mathematics class because this method can motivating students to be more active in learning mathematics.
