Keyword : reading, humor stories, experimental research. In teaching and reading process there are some factors that must be taken much by the teacher as the main person who teaches the reading materials for her students. Besides, to make a good atmosphere in the class, she also is hoped have the capability and creativity in doing the task as an English teacher.This research was performed to know the significant effect of studentsÂ’ score byhumor stories of the second grade students of SMP Muhammadiyah 01 Malang. It was conducted based on the fact that students reading score were lower than standard minimum of the school and also the students found difficulties in understanding the material. The reseacher tried to use humor stories in teaching reading process. It was because humor stories made the students fun and enjoyable in teaching reading process. This researchused quasi experimental design which was conducted in pre test and post test. It was to investigate wheter or not humor stories could improve students reading score. There are as the population and for the observation, the sample are only 60 students consist of two clasess. There are class A as a control class and class C as an experimental class. The instrument of this research was a reading test. The test consisted of 10 essay tests. The reseacher use an essay test because the students can comprehend the material while post test was intended to know the studentsÂ’ reading comprehension.To try the significance of the result test, the reseacher usedt-test. The control class has standard deviation is 12.635 and different with standard deviation in experimental class is 13.493. Based on the analysis the result showed that tamountis 7.437 while ttable is 1.697. The average post test score in control class is 37.00 it is higher than in experimental class is 58.00. The result of the data analysis gave evidence to reject the null hypotthesis (Ho) and support the alternative hypothesis (Ha). Based on the objectives of the research, It means that there is an influence on studentÂ’s score. So, the students have responsibility and enjoy in the teaching reading process.
