Abstract

Keyword : procrastination, student, and level Procrastination is the act of needlessly delaying task to the point of experiencing subjective discomfort. Procrastinatioin appears to be something common in the academic world. Student tent to avoid the tasks that are not fun for them, with the assumption that they would be able to complete the task well even in a short time. But in the end, many of them are not optimal in completing their work, and some have failed to complete the task on time. This will certainly have an impact on their learning achievement.Therefore, this resaearch is aimed to know how is the procrastination in the execution of academic task done by the students of 2008 University of Muhammadiyah Malang. The design of this research was descriptive quantitative. The population of this study was 63 students 2008 at english Departement UMM. From the 63 students were taken as the sample of the study. The collected data were based on Procrastination Assesment Scale-Student (PASS). The result of this study, found that among 63 students, there were 36 students (57%) had middle level of procrastination, 20 students (32%) had high level of procrastination, and 7 students (11%) had low level of procrastination. Then the result of the mean score of the procrastination through the questionaire was 40. Thus, the level of procrastination in the execution of academic task done by the students of english Deptartement UMM is considered middle. It means that the students of English Departement of UMM indicate a general delaying in executing their academic task. It means that the students sometimes procrastinate and have somewhat problem with this.
