Abstract

Listening is one of the four language skills that must be mastered by Indonesian students who are learning English as a foreign language. Since listening is the most difficult one among the four skills, the teacher needs to make modification in teaching and learning process. Related to the statements above, the purposes of this study are to describe how the teacher implements "Bingo Game" in teaching listening and identify the students' response toward "Bingo Game" at tenth grade of SMA Muhammadiyah 3 Batu. This research uses qualitative research design because it presents the data in terms of analyzing "Bingo Game" used by the teacher in teaching listening and the students' response toward "Bingo Game" in listening activity. The subjects of this research are an English teacher and tenth grade students of SMA Muhammadiyah 3 Batu. This research also uses interview, observation, and questionnaire as instruments. The result showed that in implementing Bingo Game in teaching listening, the teacher gave some rules to the students. However, there was modification of the winners in this game. Therefore, the researcher found that almost all students gave positive response toward Bingo Game in listening activity. It was found that there were 317 responses on "agree" and 11 responses on "disagree". It means that by playing Bingo Game, the students did not only get fun things in learning process, they could reduce their anxiety in listening activity and felt easier to catch what they had learned.
