Background of this study is the competition on radio industry in Malang. The competition is not only around listener rating or commercial challenge, but also in the way how to produce a favorite program in radio. A good radio program must be snatch away first to attract more listener and commercial side. There are around 30 radio stations that are listed in communication and information department (Depkominfo) Malang. Unfortunately, the researcher was only able to collect the data from 21 radio stations in Malang because of some matters that are faced by the researcher. The purposes of this study are to know the competition chart on the radio program in Malang and the level of dependency each radio based on their programs. Research method that is used is descriptive quantitative research design by applying Niche’s theory as technique on the data analysis. Niche Breadth technique analysis is used to decide the level of dependency on each radio toward their programs as life-supply source. Therefore, it can be identified which radio is Generalis or Spesialis. On the other hand, Niche’s overlap analysis is used to decide the degree of intersection each others on the radio. So, it can be known how high the level of competition on radio industry is. In order to make the researcher easier in analyzing the data, radio programs are divided into 11 categories. They are Variety Show, Public Service, News, Info, Music, Talk show, Consultation, Religion, Culture, Drama, Children, and Special Guest/Profile/Features. The categories will be divided more into some sub-category based on their categories. Three result of this research is showed that many of radio in Malang are include in spesialis category. In the result of Niche’s overlap, it can be seen that radio stations in Malang have high and very competitive competition. The tightest competition is between Masjid An-Nur radio and Madina FM radio. Both of them are not only having competition in the chosen program, but also in the radio listener segmentation. Unfortunately, the competition or rivalry between Masjid An-Nur radio and Madina FM radio is too tight and high, then there is no others radio which is able to compete with them. Suggestions for the next research that will use same theory, it will be better to observe the radio “positioning” as the basic research to make life-supply sources categories based on the listener aspect or the announcer style in the broadcast.
