Abstract

Digitality is used to mean the condition of living in a digital culture. The students use technology as part as their life and they have already mastered and adopted into everyday use. They have spent their entire lives surrounded by and using computers, video games, digital music players, video cams, cell phones, and other toys and tools of the digital age. But, many teacher are high fearful of the technologies that the students take for granted. Teachers as digital immigrant, who know about the virtual world later, learn to adapt the new environment and their student’s style. The development of science and technology in various parts of the world brings a very significant influence on the development of education, including the ways teachers teach the students using the technology. The purpose of this study is to know the digitality levels of state of junior high school English teachers in Kab.Malang. The research design in this research is descriptive quantitative research. The population in this study was the 50 Junior High School English teachers who participated in English training. The sample of this study is taken by purposive sampling and the result is 30 Junior High School English teachers in Kab.Malang. To collect the data, the writer used rating scale as the instrument. The finding of the research was the mean score of the digitality levels of state of junior high school English Teachers in Kab.Malang was 76.4. The result of the rating scale showed that there were 3 English Teachers (10 %) got score between 85 up to 100 ( Very High ), 24 English teachers (80 %) got score between 70 up to 84; it means that they were categorized in “ High “. Then, 3 English Teachers (10 %) got score 55 up to 69; it means that they were categorized in “ Fair “. Next, no English Teachers got score between 40 up to 54 ( Low ), and no English Teachers got score 0 up to 39 ( Very Low ). The result of the study showed that the digitality levels of state of junior high school English Teachers in Kab. Malang was “ high “. It can be seen from the mean score of the digitality levels of state of junior high school English Teachers that was 76.4. There were several factors that made the English Teachers have a high digitality levels : The first factor was being English teachers and no language barrier. Then, the second factor was English Teachers easy to follow the development of technology which is happen. Next, the third factor was English Teacher use a technology as part as their teaching learning process. The last factor, the English Teachers have a complete facility at their school.
