Abstract

Literature is human’s expression and imagination that is described through written form of language that is designed to manipulate reader’s imagination. Reading literary work not only merely gives the readers such an entertainment, but also experience, feeling, and gives a new perspective about life. One of the literary works is novel. It presents a story, which mostly represented our daily life rather than another literary work. This study conducted on analyzed "The Rainbow Troops" written by Angie Kilbane and focused on the main character’s motivation to get high education. This study started with three statements of problem; those are what the factors that motivated Haikal to get high education are, how Haikal’s efforts to get high education are, and what the results of his efforts toward his life are. This study used descriptive qualitative research design because the writer described and interpreted the phenomena that existed in the novel without presenting numbers.
