Abstract

The number of applications for dispensation of child marriage in East Java Province is the highest in Indonesia, totaling 15,337 cases or 29.4% of national cases. The number of Marriage Dispensation applications at the Malang Regency Religious Court has been the highest in East Java for 2 consecutive years, when compared to 2021, the application for Marriage Dispensation has decreased from the data recorded 1,762 cases in 2021 and 1,434 in 2022 with an average of 100 applicants per month. The aim of this research is to determine the level of marital readiness of applicants for marriage dispensation at the Malang Regency Religious Court. Researchers used total sampling techniques with a subject of 70 respondents. The instrument used in this study was a marriage readiness scale. The results of this study indicate that marital readiness in the subject results in three categories, namely the low 13%, medium 80% and high 7% categories, which means that the marital readiness of children applying for marriage dispensation at the Malang Regency Religious Court has already indicated a lot of marital readiness even though they are not completely mature in taking their decision to get married. The results of this research found that there are many factors and backgrounds that motivate children to enter into child marriage, one of the biggest factors is their own desire based on love for each other and many children do not have enough awareness of the impact that will happen in the future after getting married.
