Abstract

Retire bring consequence to individual, after retiring, there is a change in rutinity activity at individual’s life, starting from physical complaint, anxiety in new thing, depression, gripping about environment is the symptom of post power syndrome at individual in retiring session. It caused by the loss of individual power and he also couldn’t fit himself/herself with new condition, positive, or negative. The difference of post power syndrome level could be caused by many things. One of them, self-concept. This research aimed to find out the difference of self-concept by the existence of post power syndrome. Variables in this research were self concept as independence variable and post power syndrome as dependence variable. Data collection were done by two scale, they were post power syndrome scale and self-concept scale. Data was collected from 38 retiring army of PEPABRI Malang by the assistance of SPSS program version 13.00. From the data analysis, there could be found a significant difference level between self concept with post power syndrome (0.044, sig>0.05) at retiring army. There showed by subject between positive self-concept have low post power syndrome 32%. Then the subject with negative self- concept has high post power syndrome for 26%. There could be found that more positive self-concept, post power syndrome would be lower.
