Abstract

This research is entitled "Perceptions of Catcalling Student Victims of Catcalling in the Campus Environment (Case Study of FISIP Student Victims of Catcalling Class of 2020, University of Muhammadiyah Malang)". This study aims to explain how the perceptions of FISIP students who are victims of catcalling in the class of 2020 at Muhammadiyah University of Malang towards catcalling in the campus environment. Based on the phenomenon that occurs, catcalling can occur anywhere, including educational institutions, especially campuses. The campus environment, which is ideally a place to study knowledge, namely learning life and humanity, is actually a place where human values are snatched and violated. This research was conducted to find out how the perceptions of FISIP students who were victims of catcalling class 2020 at Muhammadiyah University of Malang towards catcalling in the campus environment. The research method used in this research is a qualitative research method with descriptive research type, so that the results show that some research subjects who are FISIP students who are victims of catcalling class of 2020, Muhammadiyah University of Malang perceive catcalling as a negative perception, where this action should not be carried out in an educational institution, especially campus. A student should have higher morals and ethics, and realize that catcalling is not an appropriate action to take in an educational institution. Moreover, according to students, the campus is a sanctuary, a safe and comfortable place to study. However, one of the five research subjects also perceived catcalling as a perception that was not negative, but also not positive, because the subject stated that he was an ignorant person so he did not care about it, but on the other hand he was also very aware of catcalling. This perception arises because it is influenced by functional factors where each subject in this study has seen, heard, and experienced catcalling in the past until then the experience creates a perception in each research subject.
