This study was conducted on Helen Keller novel. It was the novel which told about a blind and deaf girl who finally became a writer, speaker, and traveller. The deficiency which she faced made her struggle much harder than others. It also made her emotions were unstable. This novel contains experiences, problems, and struggles of human being with physical deficiencies and often enhance her emotions. Emotion is the feeling which involves a combination between psychological stimuli and frankly behavior. The objectives of this study were to identify Helen’s emotions in George Sullivan’s novel Helen Keller, to describe the way Helen expresses her emotions in George Sullivan’s novel Helen Keller, and to know the effects of Helen’s emotions toward herself in George Sullivan’s novel Helen Keller. The research design of this study was qualitative research, because this study did not present the data in numerical analysis, but in the form of words. In this case, the data were all events of Helen Keller novel. This study used objective approach. In collecting the data, the writer read and understood the novel “Helen Keller” written by George Sullivan, choosing the data dealing with the problems which became the focus of the study, selecting the data which were related to the purpose of the study on the novel, rewriting all of the data which had been chosen and selected based on the original quotation in the novel “Helen Keller”. In conclusion, the finding showed that Helen had anger, sad, anxiety, happy, and enthusiastic emotions. She expressed her emotions playing alone much of the time, expressing hostilities directly, and expressing her feeling openly. Negative emotion made her coping with an immediate threat and problem. In this case, her anger which often appeared made her considered mentally ill and being threaten to be sent to hospital. Positive emotion caused good effects for her. It built lasting resources. In this case, enthusiastic emotion brought Helen become a writer, speaker, and traveler. Related to the findings, the provided suggestions. First is for the readers of this thesis, it is hoped that they can take the lesson in order to be enthusiastic that they can express positive emotion to reach many achievements like Helen Keller. Second is for the English department students, it is hoped that this research can motivate them to learn artwork more especially novel in order to get many lessons of real life expressed in the novel. Third is for the further researchers who are interested in artwork. They might conduct the research on the novel related to the linguistic areas, such as: semantics, discourse analysis, sociolinguistics and so on.
