Abstract

This study reviews on Indonesian vocabularies that are obtained from 5 years old students based on their family social status. The 5 years old children have got the first language (B1) and got the second language (B2). In getting language, the children pass through some steps where they still had not known the words till they recognize and understand the words so, the children have many vocabularies. Vocabularies are part of language and vocabularies mastery is the important part of using language. Therefore, vocabularies should be mastered well. The 5 years old children that still not get yet language course formally is part of language obtaining process (B1) or even (B2). Language acquiring on children is important to be studied because it is the basic foundation for language learning in formal school. The purposes of this study are to know and to get the whole description about (1) any vocabularies obtained by 5 years old children, (2) what factors that influence Indonesian vocabularies acquired by 5 years old children based on social status. To reach the purposes, this study uses qualitative descriptive method. Data obtained uses observation technique. Instrument in this study uses recording tool and field record. Object of this study is two children by the age of 5 years 4 months and 5 years 6 months. Based on the result of data analysis, it is obtained the result of study as follow. First, vocabularies produced by the children during communication and resulting classified vocabularies resulted based on various vocabularies. In this case, it is obtained many vocabularies; they are nouns, verbs, adjectives, numbers pronoun, adverb. Second, factors that influence the mastery of Indonesian vocabularies on the 5 years old children based on social status is their parents’ background; they are education and economy backgrounds of parent. These difference leads to the more different vocabularies owned by children and the way of education was given for the choldren also influenced vocabularies owned by children.
