Abstract

To make a successful teaching and learning process, the teacher needs a preparation before teaching in class. It means that lesson plan has the important role in teaching and learning process. Lesson plan describes the elements that will be used in teaching a language course and provides the basis for instructional focus and content. This research intended to investigate the implementation of lesson plan in teaching English at SMK 2 Muhammadiyah Malang. More specifically, this research is focused on the implementation of lesson plan and the problems faced by the teacher in implementing it. This research used descriptive qualitative design because it was intended to describe the phenomena about the teacherÂ’s at SMK 2 Muhammadiyah Malang. The subject of this research was the teacher who teaches English in second grade at SMK 2 Muhammadiyah Malang. To collect the data, the researcher used observation, interview, and teacherÂ’s document (teacherÂ’s lesson plan). The data were analyzed by comparing the teachersÂ’ document with the observation done by the researcher. Then to complete the data, the researcher conducts the interview with the teacher. In implementing the lesson plan, the teacher lesson plan component who taught in second grade consisted of Standard Competence, Basic Competence, Indicators, Learning Objectives, and Learning Materials, teaching Media, Teaching Model, Learning Activities, Evaluation and References. The result of this research showed that the teacherÂ’s lesson plan in SMK 2 Muhammadiyah Malang was implemented well by the teacher. However, the teacher at SMK 2 Muhammadiyah Malang faced the problem in implementing their lesson plans were the studentsÂ’ crowded condition, they were very crowded. Another problem faced by the teacher was the time limited because the teacher could not finish the materials at that time, they should continue the materials at the next meeting.
