API 5LX-52 steel has made and produced based on API standart (American Petroleum Institute), in wich this steel have carbon rate 0,3 % (Iscor Flat Steel Jurnal) including in Medium Carbon Steel.(Wiryosumarto,2000) explain medium carbon stell have weldabilty level better than high carbon steel. The research purpose is to know influence tempering on API 5LX-52 steel to hardness and microstructure.Than to compare hardness and microstructure before and after tempering. From the research result is obtained conclusion that at tempering with temperature 700ºC is obtained smallest average hardness value is 44 Kg/mm2 and on tempering with temperature 900 ºC is obtained best average hardness value 47,6 Kg/mm2, is obtained weldabilities microstructure on steel getting treatment of tempering at temperature 800 ºC with micro ferrit structure having the biggest percentage that is 66,75 %. Influence of tempering API 5LX-52 steel at hardness and microstructure is more high tempering temperature so value of hardness more increase and steel more weld because the biggest microstructure ferrit.
